Our Story
Founded by the late Derek Kitson MCIAT the practice is now ran by his daughter Katy Kitson CIAT Affiliate. Derek sadly passed away in early 2025 but has passed down his knowledge, expertise and hunger for design and the planning process to his daughter who now solely runs the business.

Meet the team
Derek Kitson
Derek started the company back in 1982 as a design and construction company with Derek and his business partners designing and building each project. In 2005 Derek took sole control of the business and changed the company name to Derek Kitson Architectural Technologist Ltd and began to focus on the design, planning and drawing aspects. Sadly, Derek passed away in early 2025 but left an abundance of knowledge and a legacy to be applauded.
Katy Kitson
Katy was brought up around construction helping her father from a young age starting with cleaning bricks on building sites. Following in her father’s footsteps, Katy attended Sheffield Hallam University graduating with a Bachelor of Science with honours 1st division in Architectural Technology.
Elaine
Elaine has been part of the business since 1984 starting out with Derek in a small portacabin where the company was based. The backbone of the business with a wealth of planning and client knowledge.
Dallas
Dallas has been with the business for 20+ years and keeps the business running smoothly making sure all the accounts are in order and sausage sandwich money is readily available!
Yogi
Yogi has been part of the team for the last 2 years. He takes office security very seriously with routine handbag and lunchbox inspections to ensure there are no stray biscuits entering the office.
